The lower the point total required to win the game, the greater the advantage for posts 1 and 2. These posts actually do worse in Spec 9 games and are probably overbet.
Your reasoning that "The fact I'm guaranteed to get a point and back up for a second chance is very appealing" applies to spec 7 as well, but the key difference is that in that case post 1 or 2 don't have as far to go for the win.
It seems likely that a general failure to appreciate the diminished advantage of posts 1 and 2 in the super games would cause their respective Q's to return less than in Spec 7 games.
