Mark, did you ever see or read a book written by Katie Herrington
in the 70's? She was the PR director for Dania Jai-Alai at the
time and quite an accomplished player. She would come out to the
amateur courts in Miami with another lady and the two of them
would take on unsuspecting men teams for sodas and I don't remember
them losing too many times! I saw them several times when I was
about 15...enough so I knew I didn't want to get shown up! I think
I still have a copy of her book. It was very informative...on
the same order as Goitia's.
BTW, she was also very instrumental at the time in helping youth
development. She organized and taught many groups of youngsters
the game with her knowledge and ability to use the Dania fronton,
but she also utilized N. Miami Amateur as she lived up in the
Broward Cty area. Both Howie Kalik and Marty Fleischman would
know about her.
I found the following through google.
"Jai-Alai- The First Inside Look at America's Newest
Sports Craze" by Katie Herrington in 1977. This was an excerpt
from a column of Mr. Jai-Alai, the answerman in Dania's programs.
