Hey Panch0! I'm not so sure about the shambles prediction.
The wife and I have vacationed in Cuba on 5 different occasions.
We've visited different cities and have rented cars and driven
all over the island (in search of great dive sites).
There are already foreign investors in the country, owning property,
and the tourist areas are thriving - having some of the nicest
hotels/resorts I have ever seen. Europeans are all over the place,
and yes, topless women abound!!!! 
The people that I have met (mostly scuba instructors and people
who work in the tourist industry) already have a good sense of
capitalism...
...very friendly people.
I predict that once Cuba and the US settle their differences,
and Americans are allowed to go their directly from the states,
The Bahamas will be the worst hit. Foreign investment will head
to Cuba in droves...
...I think that gambling will soon follow and jai alai with it.
