Very well said Joe.
I played in France, Spain and US.
In France the Jai Alai is played in front of a tennis/golf crowd. No one says anything during the point and if someone does, he/she will hear from her neighors to shut up.
When I first came here, what a difference and it took some time adjusting to the noise.
I must say thought that I liked the noise much more than the quiet. PUMPS YOU UP. That is why the playing was generally better on the weekends when the crowds were bigger and the noise was louder.
I cannot speak for today's players but would like to think they feel the same way.
WE DEFINITELY GOT MORE MAD AT OURSELVES THAN ANY BETTOR OUT THERE.
You fans use to see the first reaction in the court. What you did not see was in the locker room.
Lockers, walls, trash, gatorade jugs etc.... took a beating.
Helmets and cestas were broken.
I remember getting into the locker room after a point, drop kicking my helmet beautifully (my old rugby coach would have been proud) and breaking several neon lights (which I had to pay) in Tampa's locker room.
That is why we love this game. Passion.
