First a comment on Arecha, don't get me wrong,I think Arecha is
probably the player to beat in the earlies. He is strong in either
singles or doubles.I believe as is with the other players his
game has been brought up by lesser competition. He should be doing
exactly what he is doing, winning. He has such a great amount of
experience, he has played in over 24,000 games at Dania alone. Four
years of pro experience in Spain and plus he played at Ocala & Tampa. Jai-Alai
is really all he knows..
My vote would have to go to backcourter Madarieta. When I first
saw him at the Fort a few years back, I was very impressed with
his smooth style and beautiful reverse. In my mind he showed plenty
of potential. Unfortunately he tore his knee up badly while practicing
for the Citrus, he was going to play for the Fort. I thought it
was a bad decision to send him there, and not in hindsight. Anyways,he
had major surgery and extensive rehab.
He played here and there but finally ended up at Dania, he has
had to modify his reverse and can no longer do a fall down rebote, I'm
sure many have seen how he tries and scoops it around. He has worked
hard and lately his reverse is once again strong and smooth for
a lighter backcourter, without him taking extra steps like he use
to do to get that extra power.
I was about to give up on him, but in my mind he has come around
and now has a nice game. Will he get any better, probabily if he
can keep his attitude positive. I have seen it over and over again, so
much of this game is MENTAL !
