you can tell a lot from body language, whether it be a human or an animal. Dogs and Horses when they are ready to run have thier head up, they are on thier tippy-toes, pulling strongly on thier leash or harness, you can see they are just ready to go. It doesn't mean they will win all the time but it is one more criteria to add when making a selection. To me trying to tell if a jai alai player will try or not is much tougher. But usually during warm-ups you can distinguish who is ready or not by noticing who is on the inside 6 or 7 line taking all the balls and who is just standing around on the wood. I would have to say the player that is just standing around on the wood during warm-ups is probably not a good bet. But as we all know anything can happen in jai alai.
