Re(3): #130 - Would shorter seasons be better?

At first I was thinking "yes" on the shorter seasons, but I think the negatives outweigh the positives. One issue is that you may lose players. If they are only employed 6 months in the U.S. then most will return to Spain/France and may find other opportunities and not return. Back in the days of many frontons they would simply go play at another fronton in the U.S. but I don't see that happening now. If Dania/Miami went to 5-6 month seasons there are not too many players who I think would go to the Fort or Ocala/Orlando/Hamilton. Now if Miami and Dania could partner up and run opposite dates with a shared roster that could work. Then the best players would be at those 2 frontons and the rest at the others.

The other downside is no poker, and that means a lot of unemployed dealers, etc. But with the state hassling the frontons and shutting down the tournaments the poker may be viewed as expendable and much less important now that business is down.
