A review of 3

Well, I don't know how I'll top Liger's post, but I'll try....

I currently hold three wagering accounts and I’ll ‘review’ all three.

Online wagering:

Link2Bet (formerly Euro-off Track):

This is the better of the two online accounts I have, the other being Racebook.com by World Gaming. They have two different types of wagering interfaces – Java, and HTML. The Java interface is much easier and quicker to use because you don’t have to keep switching screens and waiting for them to load. It’s an all-in-one interface. The only problem is that it’s not compatible with the new Java software used now by many other web sites. They haven’t updated yet, and I have low expectations given their response time in the past. The HTML portion is very straight forward, but again is slower than the Java.
The folks at Euro-off Track have also recently updated their website to reflect the new Link2Bet name. No improvement of the wagering interfaces, but a few more options are available from the main page (link to Rosnet, Cell phone betting). They also now offer Build-a-bet (whatever that is). I’ve tried it once, but it was slower than the Java.
The one thing I don’t like about Link2Bet is that they offer no promotions or incentives for depositing money or placing bets. Autotote (the telephone system) has Trophy Bucks based on your dollars wagered and Racebook.com offers deposit bonuses (i.e. 20% of your deposit is added to the balance). From a USER-friendly side Link2Bet is the best, but they’re lacking in the promo/incentive department.

Racebook.com:

Slow and unreliable. They frequently have technical issues with the interface and I’ve had to call them on numerous occasions only to get the canned (“We didn’t get the proper upload from Amtote”) – or something like that. They do have deposit bonus incentives though, you just have to look for them. Other gambling websites use this World Gaming based interface, so be careful about which one you choose. This would be a good backup account if you’re using Link2Bet.

For any of these internet sites it would be nice if you could just upload your bets in one batch, rather than having to key each one in individually. I can’t imagine it would be too hard, but the responsibility of the correctness of the wagers lies solely on the customer.

Autotote:

If you plan on making telephone wagers or advance wagering this may be the one for you. It’s not too difficult to set up an auto-dialer with your computer – push the GO button, and walk away. If you don’t care about watching the odds and don’t have the time to click in a bunch of bets, this is probably the best. The biggest problem with this interface is that it’s SOOOOO SLOW. The automatic voice repeats every bet you make, so there is a lot of wait time. They do offer a bonus program based on dollars wagered called the Trophy Bucks program. You accumulate these Bucks by placing wagers (that’s it!). These can be redeemed for various items AND more wagering dollars (very nice). You can’t cash these Bucks out, but you can wager with the Bucks cashed in. They also offer a buy-in to their handicapping tournament with a certain number of accumulated Bucks.
