Re(1): A Chess Concept

I suggest that the strong disadvantage for the serving team in doubles comes from the frequent pasa/corta whilst trying to get around the front, at the same time trying not to give the back a puffball. You're almost automatically in the 'neutral' state if there's no over/under. The killer serve in singles would be an easy grab for the front in doubles.

Much less over/under in singles unless you have a very agressive server. A weak serve can leave the situation neutral at best, while a strong serve can win the point outright or put the receiver in such a hole that the result is almost a given.

Relating to the QOW, can we say (discounting pasa/corta and just plain BAD serves) that most of the remaining advantage accruing to the receiving team is the result of picked serves, the only other way they can take control on first touch?

If so, can we we mine it from past history?
