I think it depends on numerous factors:
Example #1--In Miami, an early game player could get stuck playing
10 or 11 games if there is a late game scratch. My guess would
be the player would not play better as that is a lot for one performance--even
more so in a doubleheader of course.
Example #2--I think that the early gamers with more power have
a better shot in the lates because they are more likely to score
a point than the catch-and-throw types. For example, I saw Dezec
sub in a few late games last week and he got slammed.
Example #3--I think motivation plays a factor. I saw Joaka play
game 5 at Dania a few weeks ago, and he rattled off 4 straight
points, something he rarely did in game 2.
Example #4--The opposite of #3 is that I have seen late gamers
sleepwalk in early games. However, sometimes a player could play
at half-speed and dominate an early game. Once, I left Zen out
of an early game and lost because of it.
So, my answer is...I think you have to look at each situation
independently.
