Re(1): #63 - Do subs play better than expected?

I think it depends on numerous factors:

Example #1--In Miami, an early game player could get stuck playing 10 or 11 games if there is a late game scratch. My guess would be the player would not play better as that is a lot for one performance--even more so in a doubleheader of course.

Example #2--I think that the early gamers with more power have a better shot in the lates because they are more likely to score a point than the catch-and-throw types. For example, I saw Dezec sub in a few late games last week and he got slammed.

Example #3--I think motivation plays a factor. I saw Joaka play game 5 at Dania a few weeks ago, and he rattled off 4 straight points, something he rarely did in game 2.

Example #4--The opposite of #3 is that I have seen late gamers sleepwalk in early games. However, sometimes a player could play at half-speed and dominate an early game. Once, I left Zen out of an early game and lost because of it.

So, my answer is...I think you have to look at each situation independently.
