May I remind you, ALL gambling winnings are taxable - not just the ones you have to pay tax on immediately.

OK, I'm a killjoy!

On to the superfecta:

How can you win 5 consolidation tickets?

If you wheeled the x-y-z-ALL and it came in x-y-z-Anything, you would have one winner, right?

Wait a minute....

Ok. Let's say I had the 7/1/5/2,3,4,6
It comes in as 7/1/5/8 and no one else has it.

You're right. I get 4 separate winners with an ALL, and with lower payouts on each.

There are two problems I see with the superfecta as a whole however.

Player indifference starts to kick in after place point if there is a playoff. Have you ever seen five teams/players play for 4th place. Ugly.

Second, see Question of the Week #47, on dilution. IMO, it has the most significant effect on profits (other than getting the damn numbers right!). Boxers and wheelers would be appalled at how much they are losing on dilution, especially with Jai Alai's low pool sizes. It is WAY UNDERATED. I encourage anyone to do a detailed analysis with an expected rate of return and average payoff if you want to be depressed.
