Watch the quinella odds and look for value near post time. I like
to pick a couple of teams (or players) that look strong, and look
for good prices on decent number combos including them. Like any
other method, sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't.
Here's an example. Saturday at Dania, Christophe looked really
sharp winning the eighth game singles. In game nine, he had a
tough post (7) and a backcourter who has been struggling (Zuri),
but hey, Larrea hasn't exactly been burning it up and he had finished
second twice in the first three games. Christophe looked like
he was on his game, and the shortest quinella with the 7 was going
off at 25-1. So I played quinellas 7/1-5. Only one of those combos
was under 30-1. Turns out that Christophe/Zuri didn't hit the
board, but that was, in my mind, a good value play.
