I usually bet a minute before game time after a final check on
the odds. I may make some bets beforehand that I want to play
regardless of the odds. I too use the SAMS, and like Dan have
bet the wrong tracks and left my voucher once or twice. On the
flip side of that I found a few big ones at well.
The only times I can recall being shut out recently is when I
went to Florida last March for the Florida cup. Miami didn't have
too many machines available, and I missed out on a couple bets.
