That topic died on the vine, but it is probably the most challenging
one so far.
I could easily write a mega-essay on it, but given the ultra-low
particpation rate here, I'll pass instead.
However, I will state that I disagree strongly with Tiger's position
that the doubles server disadvantage is much less pronounced than
the singles server plus. In fact, you would be a lot better off
going with 53-47 singles and 47-53 doubles in your calculations,
than you would be with leaving it at 50-50.
At any rate, my video card has tv output which allows me to make
a recording of the tournament. And analyze it later.
So here then, is a question about server disadvantage in round
1 of the tournament:
Of the 86 points that were played in Miami, which is the correct
percentage won by the serving team?
A - 49% Almost dead even.
B - 46% Very close to the figures I gave above.
C - 39% Are you from Mars?
D - 43% Can it really be that bad for the servers?
Well, jai-alai experts, wuddya think?
