You don't want a fat immobile guy like a CC Sabathia....but
how about if a Lincecum started playing pelota at age 10, how
good of a frontcourter could he be, maybe team him with Lebron
James in the back....I bet he'd be world class if started as a
youngster.
My point is very few play jai alai. How many American amateurs
are there ? I'm thinking a few thousand at the most. Even in
the 70's and 80's there couldn't have been more than a few thousand
American amateurs and several dozen made it as pros. No other
sport has odds like that.
How many Basques even play amateur ?
