Just for the record, you have my position backward.
For me, "dumping" and "lock and feed" would
require some kind of proof. "Ask Curley" ( Bada-Bing
/ Dump Truck / pelotapete) is simply not strong enough.
I was trying to point out that more times than not, the team with
possible game point will also be the stronger of the two teams,
so to take a modest edge, eg 55-45 as proof of "dumping for
place" would be as ignorant as using the fact that South
Florida feels hot and humid as proof of global warming.
On the other hand, I like the statement by Dump Truck that "9
out of 10 times the team with possible wins! Hmmmm is that a coincedence
i dont think so..". That is because the claim of 9 out of
10 is so ridiculous that it shows how detached from logic the
dumpsters can get. Should be very easy to disprove.
At any rate, I have a nice chunk of data that contains a representative
sample of point sequences of games. It's somewhere on an older
computer, along with the code to process the sequence and determine
if a dumping scenario exists. It would be a hassle to find it
and make it work, but I will give it a shot.
