Same here. When you lay off this many people you are required by law to give the WARN notice at least 60 days in advance. So by planning to close the casino/poker operations on Oct 15, they are basically closing as soon as they legally can. The live jai-alai will continue thru Dec 30 simply because they need that much time to get in 150 performances for the current fiscal year. If we assume the players have existing contracts, then hopefully everyone that was on the roster when they took their break for August will play from September thru December. Maybe not. And then what? Do they offer contracts to those players that start sometime in 2016? Do they just let all the players go and re-assemble a roster after the year of renovations? That could be tricky as many players may not return, and some could sign on to play elsewhere....though the options are limited. And...if a player was offered a contract that does not start for a year....would they even WANT to sign that?
