Yep, I remember those days. When I was younger I myself use
to dress my best to go to the frontons. Now when I go to a fronton
alone, people assume that I am married to a jai-alai player because
very few women go to jai-alai alone anymore and even fewer go
alone to watch an evening performance.
In fact, the last time I went to a performance at Miami Jai-alai,
during a matinee performance, one of the regular patrons, an older
woman, came up to me at the end of the performance and asked me
which jai-alai player was my husband. I couldn't help but laugh.
I told her that I was not married to a jai-alai player and she
said, "No really, which player is your husband, you can tell
me". Too funny!
