MACE WINS FASTEST SHOT COMPETITION

----Mace won the "Fastest Shot on the Roster" contest at Tuesday evening's
Zabala and Badiola testimonial program at Milford by getting to 148 mph on
the radar gun with his forehand. The early game backcourtman and Milford
native beat out nine others by gaining momentum off of a practice throw - a
technique tried by only one other participant.
----"When you throw from a dead stop, you're throwing off of your back
foot and you're gonna' throw a potato," explained Mace. "I wanted to be
pushing off of my front foot and moving foward."
----Tevin finished second, reaching 122 mph with his left side.
----The other players taking part were: Arzubia, Jorge, Ruben, Arrieta,
Guisasola, Raul, Aritz and Hoey.
----Milford hopes to refine the competition, which will almost undoubtedly
lead to higher readings, and bring it back in some form in the future.
