This is a good post, and there is a lot to be said here.

Things are pretty close to hopeless, IMO because the small crowds have a ripple effect. Younger people won't want to go because it is an 'old person' place, and sensitive folks won't go because of the crazies there. Even more so, people will be turned off by the lackluster play on a really dead night, so that will make the place even emptier.

More on the ripple effect--in jai-alai's heyday, many Spanish players ended up staying here because they met Americans they ended up marrying (who were either big fans or worked there.) You see far less of that today, and that is contributing to the roster turnover.

One last scary thing is that just 6 years after Milford's closing, you only see a smattering of people watching jai-alai in the simulcast places.

I don't think there is much any of us can do, but enjoy what we have because who knows what the future is going to bring.
