You hit the nail right on the head.
In the late 70s, WJA wanted to take me to Miami from Fort Pierce.
By that time I had played with Miami and Tampa rosters. What a
difference between the two. Night and day.
I insisted I wanted to go to Tampa and Frank Duffin told me
it would be a long time coming because of my refusal to go to
Miami. I was even told I would not be playing for WJA if I did
not accept Miami. I stood my ground.
In the early 80s, my wish was granted and I was sent to Tampa.
I was involved with that roster, fronton and city for 10 years.
How lucky did I get.
It was not perfect but I can honestly say that it was a thousand
times better than what would have been in Miami.
Maybe I would have had a better career in Miami but it would
not have been as happy.
I achieved more that I ever dreamt and I am positive it was
because of Tampa's atmosphere.
Boli did not need to go to Miami to show he was the best.
Boli showed he was the best everywhere else.
