First of all, I don't consider myself an expert...I always thought
Miami was fairly fast for the 10 years I played there...and especially
after playing at Ft. Pierce each summer...but after moving on
to Tampa, Ocala, Hartford...I would rank fastest to slowest in
order Tampa, Ocala, Miami, Hartford (slowest when cold outside),
Ft. Pierce...and I will say that Miami was always considered the
'truest' court (no weird bounces, crazy curving etc)...Ocala
was fairly true also.
As far as thoughts about fast & slow pelotas:
The first few years at Miami the ball boy had approx 6 pelotas
in a box by the back wall entrance to the players cage...there
were 11 games at first...as games were added and the state still
imposed the "last game had to start by midnight rule"...Pedro
Mir took it down to 2 pelotas, besides Juaristi was driving him
crazy with bouncing each pelota for about 2 minutes each. I remember
many times Pedro Mir yelling at him "VENGA!!!"
But you guys are right...a current player who has played at a
variety of frontons might offer a more current insight.
