One would think that the NHL and its player union would learn
from this bitter lengthy strike and resolve their differences
before a similar fate befalls the hockey industry.
Another thought is that it is interesting that hockey is really
a niche sport, similar in this way to jai alai, and seem to be
going down the same path. Interesting how the major sports of
baseball, basketball and football have thus far avoided a similar
fate. Is it a case of smarts or luck that whenever baseball went
on a lengthy strike, it was settled, ostensibly because the players
union or management was perceived as caving in?
