Jai-alai players at that time were extremely well paid. jai-alai players will never be paid what major sports stars are making because there are no television contracts or endorsement revenues coming in. The strike was almost 20 years ago and players make just a portion of what pelotaris in that era were makeing. Tiger posted an article from 1930 that showed some pelotaris were making 3000 amonth back then most probably dont make that now. Compare jai-alai salaries to other pari-mutual sports for that era and they were on the high side. To much competition for the dollar these days although the sport truly never did recover from the strike that only benefited the lawyers handling it.
